Leslie S. Post
It all began in the summer of 1990 when the I began a personal quest to find a heirloom quality blank leather book for journaling.
It has since grown into a full-time business in which I have been blessed to share my passion world wide!
Through imagination and experimentation my Blank Leather Books and Covers have developed a one-of-a-kind quality unique to
my personal artistic vision.
Often, I am asked how I started bookbinding.
Here is my story.
I started journaling in high school, mostly angsty teenager stuff, and through my time in the military (Army, Military Police Investigator attached to the Criminal Investigation Division) and then through my time as a student at Texas A&M. I truly enjoyed journaling unfortunately there wasn’t much in the market for cool looking blank books other than generic sketchbooks or lil girl diaries. I also habitually kept a 3 ring binder which I filled with quotes and passages from books I read. I had borrowed an antique typewriter and pounded out for hours whatever I read that moved me and insert into the binder.
I continued this practice for several years 1981-ish up until I moved to Colorado in 1990. At that point I really wanted to invest in a leather bound journal. I could not find one anywhere. That’s when I decided to craft my own. I remember making a simple book in 6th grade art class and figured if I could do that then I surely could craft one now in leather.
I still have that book I crafted in 6th grade and as soon as I find what hard drive I have that photo stored on I will upload it.

I am self taught. Driven purely by my passion for books.
I borrowed several bookbinding tutorials from the Denver Public Library and for about 8 months studied everything I could get my hands on explaining the Art of Bookbinding.
I had a clear vision in my head of what I wanted my journal to look like which was the Rustic style as seen here.
At that time, most of my books I crafted were gifts for friends. I did a few small craft shows but mostly it was a hobby.
In 1991 an acquintance suggested selling them at a Renaissance Festival, which I thought was a great idea, so I invested the money to purchase a shop at the CO Renaissance Festival.
Around the fall of 1994 I really wanted to see how far I could take my “hobby”.
I quit my full time job and purchased booth space at the AZ Renaissance Festival.
Fast forward to 1998, another friend insisted I put up a website. She built the website for me and within weeks I started receiving orders from around the world.
My journey to get here wasn’t easy, but I love books and the creative process involved with crafting them. I struggled many times trying to make ends meet. But in the end my passion for what I did was stronger then the fear of failing.
Between the internet allowing me the ability to have world wide access and the technology available today I find myself on the edge of a whole new adventure!
“Follow your bliss and the Universe will open doors
for you where there were only walls.”
Please take the time to peruse this site and see what I have to offer and what is coming in the near future.
I love what I do and I believe in my product!
Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this!
A few photos from over the years.
